Brandon Lane, PA-C
My arrival at a career in medicine has been anything but straight forward. I grew up in Dallas, Texas, and earned my first degree in fine arts at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1991. Though this was an incredible and enlightening experience, I also knew that in order to experience life to the fullest, I wanted to pursue a path that put me more closely in touch with the experiences of others. A pivotal experience for me was a period of travel and painting in Mexico, where extreme poverty and lack of access to medical care was a simple fact of life for many – a fact with devastating consequences. This ultimately led me to pursue a career in medicine. I gradually worked my way up, first as an EMT, then as a paramedic for 5 years in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and finally as a physician assistant.
I graduated from the University of Washington MEDEX Northwest Physician Assistant Program with honors in 2002. I spent 3 years working in Family Practice before joining the Intermountain Orthopaedics Hand Surgery program under the mentorship of Dr’s Murdock and Care. I work closely with the hand surgeons to provide the best possible care to our patients. My area of specialization is in the nonoperative management of hand and upper extremity conditions. My work here has been and continues to be quite challenging and fulfilling. I particularly enjoy seeing patients through from the time of injury or illness to a resumption of activities of everyday life.
When not at work, I continue to enjoy a number of activities, including biking, running, painting, and spending time with my family.
